Well, after many many false starts and oh nos, and even aurrrrgs I got the working version of my wizard staff. As you can see it is a fully articulate prop, I can pose the arms as I see fit. I just need to figure out how to add easy pose dials to the diamond for ease of use. The flame arms are a little thinner than I like, but I can live with it. I merely colored the objects to get a feel for them, and did a quick default shader render.
Anyhow, thoughts, suggestions and opinions are always welcome.
the nicest thing about this model is because it is mine I can port it to Blender and use it. I'll have to re-rig it but I can make the flame look the way it was meant to look with the particle system A dancing posable flame it will look much fatter once on fire, that will be the base.

yeah, the arms are a littler thin but theyre pretty good, actually, I might redo them to be thicker, havent decided yet, I also need to see about why the mesh breaks when I send to hexagon, I was thinking about adding a morph to make them fatter but cant with the mesh breaking at the groups
